In Japan there is a saying “get knocked down seven times, stand up eight”. This perseverance is one of the core principles of Martial Arts training. As we train, we learn to see setbacks as setups for comebacks, not as indicators of your worth. When you or your child understand that no matter what obstacle you face there is going to be a path forward, you stop seeing problems as impassable walls but rather as mountains to be scaled—and you know that every mountain, no matter how high, is conquered one persistent step at a time.
